Burning Calories and a Version of the Honesty Store

Puregold Parking Lot
Shelving books, loaning them to students and encoding data on the computer are some of the workload that librarians do in their daily shifts.

Well, these are not enough to battle the body bulges and make One Valenzuela a bit more healthy. She is proud to say that she has made her fourth breeze walking trip to Puregold's parking lot with dear hubby, located along McArthur Highway and near San Isidro Labrador Parish Church.

Stretch and warm up!
These photos were taken on a Sunday morning (July 17, 2011) and they have seen many people jogging, running, bicycling, playing badminton and doing their personal exercise routines. Some kids tag along with their parents. With a pedometer, One Valenzuela calculated that 8 rounds at Puregold will give you around 2,500 steps. That's 1/4 of the 10,000 steps they say one needs to be healthy (read more about it at The Walking Site). Not bad for starters like her who make less than that. :-)
"Honesty store" in Valenzuela?
After around 30 minutes of physical activity, One Valenzuela and hubby usually go to the Malinta Market to buy some food to cook before going home. As they were on their way, this chair with a carton sign caught their attention. It says "Kapag wala po ang bantay, pakilapag na lang po ang inyong eksaktong bayad. Pakibasa nalang po ng pricelist bago kumuha...". (If the seller is not around, please place your exact payment. Please read the pricelist before taking any...). A little version of the Batanes' Honesty Store!

You'll never know what you'll find in every walk.
