Valenzuelano of the Month: Kent Ganayo, working student

Since the second semester has just begun, One Valenzuela believes that it is also the perfect time to share a story about a student whom other students may get their inspiration from. In this post, One Valenzuela is featuring Kent Ganayo, a 5th honor student and Student of the Year awardee during high school. Now, he is currently a third-year Electrical Engineering student at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV). One Valenzuela first got acquainted with Kent in the PLV Library where he, together with his Engineering student friends, volunteered. After a while, she eventually saw him again serving customers and taking orders at the priority lane counter of McDonald's - South Supermarket Valenzuela branch. There, a brief kumustahan transpired.

In a separate interview, One Valenzuela learned that he sends a portion of his wage from being a working student to his family in the province while the rest goes to his studies. One should understand that his present situation also brings about various challenges. Let us hear more about Kent:

Bakit mo naisipang maging working student?

One Valenzuela saw Kent taking orders at the counter [snapshot].
Ibig sabihin, noong first year ka, first semester, okay ka pa. Nung second semester, umuwi ka ng probinsya. Mga almost one year?

Nagseserve.

Time management po talaga. Kasi minsan, wala na rin pong pahinga. Mahirap pong mag-time management.

Kumbaga, survival pack.
Kailangan matiyaga at mapagpasensya po.

Kent Ganayo: a third-year Engineering student at PLV and a McDonald's crew.

Closing.

Last po. Five years from now, karaniwang tanong.

The conversation ended in tears.

Warmest thanks to Kent for sharing his story. Salamat po and stay strong.

To Kent and to all the working students of Valenzuela City, One Valenzuela believes in you and your strength to surpass the struggles. Here's the needed pat on the back. Never lose the dream and make the challenges your catapult to success.
