Eatsploring Valenzuela City People's Park this Season (2016 edition)

The Halloween at the Park Year 2 is another successful event with lots of attendees yesterday night. The whole park was full of people watching the ongoing activities, taking photos with park personnel and visitors in full costume, kids playing and teens strolling everywhere, and families having late night picnics.

Photo op with spooky but friendly  park personnel is a must!

You will easily get hungry with all the dynamics in the park! Good thing, five food stalls can satisfy that hunger: Rhose's Puto Bumbong, Polomig-Polo's Samalamig, Mang Delfin's Putong Polo, Bibingkahan sa Pio Extension, and Arra's Barbecue of Pasolo.

It is a breeze to walk from one stall to another. A stall owner said that they will be there until January 5. It's really great to find all these favorites in one place. Tara, eatsplore tayo sa park!

It's that Pink Burger Place! Reyes Patty Burger at Brgy. Malinta, Valenzuela City

For people who have this insatiable craving for burgers and colorful things (specially those preferring hues of pink), it is time to celebrate! A new burger place has recently opened this June at a quiet street near the Old Valenzuela City Hall (now Valenzuela Hall of Justice).

Reyes Patty Burger is a simple dining spot which can be easily recognized with the Hello Kitty-inspired tarpaulin signage that you will find near the Donesa Building. Some of One Valenzuela's friends who have eaten there have vouched that the burger patties were good and flavorful.

Reyes Patty Burger's front door tarpaulin with that oh so familiar Kitty, saying "Hello!".
Have a chat with a friend or watch some tv as you wait for your orders to come.
Reyes Patty Burger serves their burger ala carte or as a meal (together with some fries and drinks). They have several varieties: the regular burger, cheese burger, bacon cheese burger, double cheese burger, and the double bacon cheese burger. Price range is from Php75 to Php185 for the ala carte and Php105 to Php215 for the burger meal. The patties are grilled and their buns have very cool colors too.
Had a cup of buko pandan (Php30.00) while waiting for the burgers to come.
Reyes Patty Burger's Bestseller: Double Cheese Burger meal (Php185.00). Customers may choose the color of the burger bun. One Valenzuela got hers in black.
Other than the burgers, they also have buffalo wings (solo meal for Php120.00 and the family meal for Php320.00) for those who long for something spicy. For a sweet ending (or beginning, as One Valenzuela's case), you may get some buko pandan (Php30.00) or Cre-Mi-Chee (ice cream cake with marshmallows; similar to the graham cake; Php49.00). Other quick fixes in the menu are the nachos, fries, and some frappes.
A closer look at the Double Cheese Burger meal. It has two good-sized grilled patties, tomato, lettuce, onion, and melted cheese. Mustard and pesto mayo complete the burger.
Bacon Cheese Burger meal (Php155.00). This burger bun rocks a cool red hue! Reyes Patty Burger's bun formulation is said to be premium and has been carefully developed according to their display in the dining area.
One Valenzuela shares a similar busog experience with the rest of the customers who left reviews on Reyes Patty Burger's Facebook page. Guess it is now your turn to grab some burgers and say hello to that cute kitty that many love.

Sampling some Ilonggo fare at Mr. T's Inasal, Brgy. Marulas, Valenzuela City

Craving for some Ilonggo fare? Then Mr. T's Inasal is the place to be when in Valenzuela City. It has been serving hungry Valenzuelanos for a number of years now and can be easily spotted along Mac Arthur Highway in Barangay Marulas. It is owned by Mr. Philip Encarnacion, once a chief of staff to Mayor Rex and Cong. Win Gatchalian and a long time practitioner of human resource management. After retiring early as an HR Director of a major airline company, he went full time with the business. One Valenzuela asked a few more questions to Sir Philip which he gladly answered back:
Mr. T's Inasal has this warm ambiance at night.
Can you tell us more about the restaurant?  Well, Mr. T's Inasal means Mister Toppings' Inasal. We started in malls as a fast food server and stand alone restaurants near universities doing rice toppings only. We ventured recently to a fusion of Tagalog and Ilonggo food, given our heritage. We grew up in Marulas but spent part of our childhood in Iloilo, hence the fusion. Mr. T's Inasal first opened in November 2008 but Mister Toppings has been in business for almost ten years.

Guess who ate here?
If a Valenzuelano will be entering your restaurant for the first time, what should s/he try on your menu? Our inasal is priceless, we use no less than real tuba vinegar. We ship out from Iloilo, giving it an authentic Bisaya taste. Almost all Ilonggo food is staple and popular. Our kare-kare, sinigang series, and all grilled items are bestsellers from our Tagalog menu.
And the Parokya ni Edgar band also ate here. That is so cool!
One Valenzuela ate a plate of Chicken Inasal and Pancit Efuven when they went there. Can you tell us more about those two dishes? Mr. T's Chicken Inasal is marinated in real tuba vinegar and the atchara is authentic. All dips are in real tuba vinegar, a little expensive for us but we don't mind as long as we are closest to the real manukan country in Bacolod.

Pancit Efuven is called the Ilonggo Pasta. The noodles are shipped in straight from Iloilo (can't buy them anywhere in Metro Manila).

Mr. T's Chicken Inasal is best eaten with tuba vinegar.

What are the services that you offer? We are actually a full service catering company offering mid size priced catering via "The Catering by Mister Toppings" and our premium catering brand which is now very popular, "Richgold Weddings". Talk about Valenzuela pride, modesty aside.

Did your establishment gain any media coverage and/or awards/recognition in the past years? Every now and then Mr. T’s Inasal and Mister Toppings cater and get advertised in ASAP Channel 2. And also, please go through our Facebook page, website, and press releases.

See you at Mr. T's Inasal, people. Namit gid!

Abe San Japanese Resto at Brgy. Malinta, Valenzuela City

A few months ago, a dining place caught the attention of One Valenzuela as she and a handful of students traversed Gov. I. Santiago Road in their school service on the way to the National Library. It read "Abe San". From there, she took a mental note that she will visit it in the future.

This Good Friday, One Valenzuela went for a joy ride in the city together with hubby and Little One Valenzuela. After stopping by Pasolo Maternity and Medical Clinic, they then went to  Abe San.

Luckily, Abe San was open. It has a wide open space for parking vehicles. By observation, the place can accommodate a small group of people and she somewhat wished it was a bit cooler especially now that we're in the middle of summer. But after being greeted with a warm smile by Mr. Abe (he even took their motorcycle helmets and placed them neatly at the side of the table), One Valenzuela knew that they are in for a treat.

Abe San Japanese Resto
Kawaii paper lanterns!
The Japanese restaurant was opened five months ago by Mr. Abe and his Filipino wife. Mr. Abe cooks the food for diners. You would not mind the modesty of the place knowing that your sashimi shall be prepared by a real Japanese. This scenario reminded One Valenzuela of Suzuki Japanese Carinderia in Tondo, Manila

You'll find the following in Abe San's printed menu: tonkatsu, gyudon, oyakodon, katsudon, burger steak, fish fry, gyoza, koroke, omurice, tonteki, teriyaki (pork and chicken), tempura, ika ring, french fries, oden, sashimi, and sushi. Most of them are in the 35 to 60 pesos price range. Only the ika rings, tempura, and sashimi are in the Php100-150 bracket.

Got no idea of what you will get? Look at Abe San's walls
Asking for their bestsellers, Mrs. Abe suggested something which was not on the menu. "Try our ramen.", she said. After a while, the group settled for two bowls of ramen (Php120 per serving), a plate of gyoza (Php35), tamago (Php70), and two bottles of ice cold soft drinks.

Abe San's Ramen (Php120.00)
Tamago (Php70.00)
Mrs. Abe said that one can also order a set of this at Php380.00.
The ramen's soup was really good! Ang sarap! One Valenzuela definitely enjoyed the ramen. The gyoza is satisfactory. Hubby loved the tamago, especially its sticky rice.

There's a reason to go back here since Mr. Abe's wife recommended One Valenzuela to try out another type of ramen. This and the other food listed on the menu made her look forward into visiting Abe San on another occasion. Before the group got on the motorcycle, Mr. Abe said "Salamat!".

You are welcome. Until our next visit!
