It's that Pink Burger Place! Reyes Patty Burger at Brgy. Malinta, Valenzuela City

For people who have this insatiable craving for burgers and colorful things (specially those preferring hues of pink), it is time to celebrate! A new burger place has recently opened this June at a quiet street near the Old Valenzuela City Hall (now Valenzuela Hall of Justice). 

Reyes Patty Burger is a simple dining spot which can be easily recognized with the Hello Kitty-inspired tarpaulin signage that you will find near the Donesa Building. Some of One Valenzuela's friends who have eaten there have vouched that the burger patties were good and flavorful.

Reyes Patty Burger serves their burger ala carte or as a meal (together with some fries and drinks). They have several varieties: the regular burger, cheese burger, bacon cheese burger, double cheese burger, and the double bacon cheese burger. Price range is from Php75 to Php185 for the ala carte and Php105 to Php215 for the burger meal. The patties are grilled and their buns have very cool colors too.

Other than the burgers, they also have buffalo wings (solo meal for Php120.00 and the family meal for Php320.00) for those who long for something spicy. For a sweet ending (or beginning, as One Valenzuela's case), you may get some buko pandan (Php30.00) or Cre-Mi-Chee (ice cream cake with marshmallows; similar to the graham cake; Php49.00). Other quick fixes in the menu are the nachos, fries, and some frappes. 

A closer look at the Double Cheese Burger meal. It has two good-sized grilled patties, tomato, lettuce, onion, and melted cheese. Mustard and pesto mayo complete the burger.

Bacon Cheese Burger meal (Php155.00). This burger bun rocks a cool red hue! Reyes Patty Burger's bun formulation is said to be premium and has been carefully developed according to their display in the dining area.

Celebrating Great Moments at Cafe Nenzo, Meycauayan, Bulacan

Every year is a milestone in a marriage, considering all the challenges that married people go through their daily lives. Following the lead of Manila Bulletin's Sol Vanzi (read the detailed article here: The Egalitarian Table), One Valenzuela and hubby went to Cafe Nenzo to have a post anniversary dinner date.

With good tasting and affordable food, no wonder this place is full of people come night time.

Though brimming with customers, One Valenzuela and hubby managed to have a table immediately. The couple sampled Cafe Nenzo's veggie chicharon, carbonara, stone baked pizza, and baby back ribs. They also ordered a green smoothie and some frappes to complement the wonderful food on the table.

Carbonara is among Cafe Nenzo's bestsellers (Php110.00).

Vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores alike will be very happy to dine at Cafe Nenzo since the restaurant offers a wide variety of food and drinks.

Weight Loss Green Smoothie (Php75.00), Coffee Jelly Frappe (Php95.00), Mocha Frappe (Php90.00)

When dining at Cafe Nenzo, be sure to order their stone-baked rolled pizza. The hand tossed pizza crust is laden full of cheese toppings and is served with curly lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, and tomato salsa. Their pizzas come in two sizes, the junior size (good for 2-3 people) and the grande size (good for 4-6 people).

Little One Valenzuela loved the Trio Cheese Stone-Baked Rolled Pizza (Grande at Php285). There are more flavors to choose from such as the Health Buff, Mighty Meat, Cheesy Beef Burger, and Super Pepperoni.

Baby Back Ribs with Smokey Barbecue Sauce (Solo: Php 140.00). Probably one of the most tender and savory ribs that One Valenzuela has ever tasted. 

Good to know that Cafe Nenzo offers low sugar cakes. By the way, Cafe Nenzo also has goodies for pasalubong. One Valenzuela found some kale chips at one of the shelves! She will be grabbing a pack next time around.

Scanning through the many reviews on Cafe Nenzo, a guest said  that Cafe Nenzo is "...a restaurant worth visiting". And yes, One Valenzuela does agree with that.

Hungry? Consult Dr. Tapsi at Brgy. Veinte Reales, Valenzuela City

A doctor who owns a tapsilogan? Or somebody who is an expert in cooking tapsilog (brief explanation for the non-Filipino reader: meal consisting of tapa, fried rice, and egg) that s/he is called a doctor? Or is it just pure wordplay? That's what One Valenzuela is thinking of before they headed to Dr. Tapsi one Sunday morning.

Ang tunay na lalake ay laging may extra rice. (A real man always has extra rice.)

Dr. Tapsi is a humble tapsilogan located at  Barangay Veinte Reales, just a brief walk from McArthur Highway. Since One Valenzuela seldom goes to this part of the city, she learned about this 24 hour tapsilogan through several recommendations on Facebook. 

What's unique about this place is that they offer tapang kabayo (horse).Check out their "Pangarera" meal.

Since Dr. Tapsi's Pangarera meal was not available during One Valenzuela's visit, she settled for the Superstar meal which includes the traditional beef tapa. It's good, though she hopes that she could ask for an extra serving (ma-ulam person here). The atsara is a winner too.

Before leaving Dr. Tapsi, One Valenzuela's question on where the tapsilogan got its name was answered. According to Nanay Baby, the name of the place came from Farish's group of sacristan friends. They met a dermatologist who eventually became their comrade too. Well, One Valenzuela is hoping to add more details to this very short account from Farish, the person behind Dr. Tapsi since the story seemed as interesting and unique as having some tapang kabayo for breakfast (or lunch...or dinner).

Out for Lunch at Little Beijing Chinese Cuisine

Armed with a stash of cash from her teaching stint, One Valenzuela said "Libre ko kayo ng lunch!" to hubby and Little One Valenzuela. Hubby has been picking up the tab lately and so One Valenzuela thought that it was now her turn to take him out. 

Mmm, where to eat? One Valenzuela was eager to eat at Little Beijing Chinese Cuisine, a newly opened restaurant near SM Center Valenzuela. The place has been open for about a month now.

By lunch time, the parking space in front of the restaurant is already a bit full. 

The store's interior is tastefully done. The interplay of ambient lighting and the earthly colors of the walls and fixtures gives a relaxing atmosphere (much like a spa in a way). Well, who wouldn't want to chill while eating good food? 

Look at those pretty earthly shades.

Little One Valenzuela said "Ma, their comfort room smells good!". And it's clean too.  

Checking out the menu, Little Beijing Chinese Cuisine offers a variety of hot soup, dimsum, noodles, congee, rice toppings, seafood, vegetable, meat and chicken dishes. The prices range from Php65 (dimsum) to Php400 (for sharing). Little One Valenzuela was looking for dessert but then they do not have it on the menu. 

Hubby initially ordered Steamed Lapu-lapu while One Valenzuela wanted to try their Camaron Rebusado (Because she loves that dish so much! She will ask for it in any Chinese restaurant.). Sadly, these were not available on that day. Awww. After a while, the group settled for Salt and Pepper Shrimps, Chopsuey, and Chinese Chorizo Fried Rice. They also ordered Shark's Fin Dumpling and Tausi Spareribs.

Complimentary tea is given as you wait for your order.

The food quickly arrived on the table.

The chopsuey (Php150) got lots of liver, shrimp, and several kinds of mushroom. The vegetables are crisp.

One Valenzuela also ate the shell of the Salt and Pepper Shrimp (Php270). ^_^

Tausi Spareribs (Php70): very tender meat! 

Little One Valenzuela ordered Shark's Fin Dumpling (Php70). She finished it in a matter of minutes. 

The group had a lovely lunch at Little Beijing Chinese Cuisine. When One Valenzuela asked hubby on what is his verdict, he said "Masarap naman lahat eh!" (Everything tasted delicious!). Since there are still a lot of dishes to try on the menu, a second food trip is well on its way. One Valenzuela is hopeful that the somewhat elusive Lapu-lapu and Camaron Rebusado will be available on their next visit.
