One Valenzuela Travels: Off to Baguio (Part 2)

Where to Stay at the Summer Capital of the Philippines:

One Valenzuela was able to buy a discounted reservation with Baguio Burnham Suites during the Travel Expo earlier this year at the SMX Convention Center. Strategically located near Burnham Park, this hotel is nestled in front of the Orchidarium and just near the Biking Grounds (Hooray for Little One Valenzuela!).

One Valenzuela and her family arrived at the hotel very early, at around 5:30 am. Since no room was available then, they just left their bags at the luggage area and ate at Good Taste Restaurant for that much needed big breakfast. Afterwards off they went to Mines View Park and Good Shepherd. After a tiring but happy walk at the park and now carrying heavy ube bottles, they again arrived at the hotel and  were able to check in as early as 11:00 in the morning though the official check-in time is still at 2:00 pm.

The family got Room 213. The room is sufficient in size for a group of 3 to 4 persons and is clean according to the family’s modest standards. It has a built in cabinet and a small refrigerator. The beds are comfortable and the family snored their night away after exploring this beautiful city. The comfort room is quite big too and has the necessary essentials for a good bath. The room does not have a park view but it was quite fine with the group.

Room Counter. WiFi signal is quite strong in this area compared to other spots in the room.

The hotel staff was very warm to the family’s requests regarding their luggage concerns and directions on how to commute in the city. On the other hand, One Valenzuela was not able to try the hotel’s buffet breakfast as it was not included in the reservation that they got. They simply dined out most of the time, trying the recommended restaurants on Tripadvisor and by popular blogger “X, Find Good Baguio Foods” (who responded to One Valenzuela’s questions promptly. Salamat, X!)

The family had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Will consider another night here when another Baguio travel opportunity arrives.

Other Possible Places to Stay: 
You may also consider Eurotel which is located just beside the Café by the Ruins and is also a few meters away from Good Taste Restaurant. While walking, hubby and One Valenzuela saw that they have this promo of Php800/person (minimum of 2 persons), buffet breakfast included.  One Valenzuela stayed here before, the room they got is quite small but it does not matter that much since she spent her day mostly outside the hotel. 

A relative of One Valenzuela who also frequents Baguio City because of her daughter who studies there suggested Prime Hotel which is strategically located along Session Road.  She said “…sa may Prime Hotel accessible, walking distance papuntang Burnham Park at one ride papunta ng Mines View. Walking distance sa market. May free breakfast for two at may fast food sa baba...“. Upon inquiry, One Valenzuela learned that an overnight stay will cost Php2,000 to Php2,500, inclusive of plated breakfast.

By the way, if you plan to visit Baguio during the Panagbenga Festival, make sure to have your hotel reservations early. And also be prepared with the volume of people during that period.
