Writing One Valenzuela's brief encounters with the people of Valenzuela City.
Because each of us has a story to tell.

"Ate Lumpia / Ate Karyoka"
"Kailangan kong magsikap. Yung iba basta nanghihingi nalang. Pwede naman maghanapbuhay, di ba? Basta marangal na hanapbuhay, maghanapbuhay ka," Ate Lumpia of Barangay Karuhatan, 49, mentioned as she narrated her story. People who buy from her call her Ate Lumpia or Ate Karyoka - named after the snacks that she sells daily. Ate Lumpia also said that she had a mild stroke incident before and that it is a good thing that she has recovered from it.
Ate Lumpia sells lumpiang togue, palitaw, and karyoka at Php5.00 each to students and employees who would search for some cheap yet tasty merienda during snack time. She would roam the streets of Barangay Karuhatan, Malinta, and Maysan while wearing her straw hat and carrying her plastic baskets full of goodies which she cooked for the day.
"Salamat ha. Kahit saglit napangiti mo ko sa kwentuhan natin," Nanay Linda expressed as she bid One Valenzuela farewell.
