This blogger certainly agrees with PixelMaster Jasper Tejano on this. That is among the reasons why she signed up (and luckily made the cut!) in the PixelMaster Master Class of ASUS this January 2019. She has always been passionate about telling Valenzuelano stories through various forms of media and learning more about street photography would give her the opportunity to tell these unique stories way better. She has expressed cheerfully, "Lalaboy-laboy ka rin lang, aralin ang street photography!" (Food photography and video making, next in line).
9 months. 8 masters. 1 passion. One Valenzuela got herself listed on the sixth batch of the ASUS PixelMaster Master Class campaign. She realized that there's so much to discover about street photography and that she knows too little, just the peak of the iceberg. PixelMaster Jasper was both amazing and inspiring as he delivered his lecture. Here are a few personal questions which were clearly answered in the program:

What is Street Photography?
It is also known as Candid Photography. Photos produced under this genre "feature unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places". Taking note of this definition, photos are then not limited only with a street view but may also include places like the mall and the beach. Popular themes include silhouettes, reflection, humor, and special human moments.
After the morning lecture and photo critique at Microtel by Wyndham (MOA), One Valenzuela joined the group's photo walk. It was her first. |
What makes an effective street photograph?
The photo should have composition (remember your "Rule of Thirds"!), defined subjects, and that decisive moment (that you are looking for).

Any advice for those who currently dabble with street photography?
PixelMaster Jasper Tejano gave numerous points to consider when you are starting to gain interest in the said field and here are some which One Valenzuela thinks are vital for newbies like her: (1) Know your camera, (2) Study the masters, (3) Practice your craft, and (4) Be appreciative of feedbacks.
To cap the day, One Valenzuela realized, while walking home, that there's always a story hiding even in the most vanilla like scenario of life. One should look at something in different angles. Find that story. And when you found it, capture it.
Excited for the next session! ASUS is bringing One Valenzuela and her batchmates outside the Metro for a day. It's somewhere cold. Better bring a jacket and that trusty ASUS Zenfone.
